Mountain (Split Harpsichord), 2013, colored pencils on handmade paper, 48" x 78".
The Pencils are used to draw large-scale works and graphic scores. For example, Pie (Harpsichord), 2013 was made using both halves of the split harpsichord. Pencils are attached to the legs or body of the instrument, and the instruments are then moved across the paper's surface in repetitive patterns (spinning etc) to create the drawing. The drawings are used as graphic scores by the musicians in performances of the "split" instruments.
